Interior for relaxation
The request for the revitalization of a private 3.5-room apartment in the High Tatras came from a client with whom we have collaborated on several projects in the past. The owner of the apartment wanted the design of the furnishings to refer to the locality in which the apartment building is located. The 58 m² apartment was to be used for short-term family stays with the possibility of occasional renting to tourists. The renovation included minor structural alterations and the complete supply of new furnishing elements.

The original layout had several unsatisfactory elements that could be improved with minor intervention. The most significant problem was a small partition between the kitchen and the hallway, which was removed during the reconstruction, thus allowing better natural daylight into the hallway through the window in the living room and bedroom.
The bathroom with toilet has also undergone a partial layout modification, where the original corner bathtub has been replaced by a large shower cubicle. The renovation also included the refinishing of the original floor surfaces and a complete replacement of the final floor coverings and light fittings throughout the apartment. A lowered SDK ceiling was added in the kitchen and hallway.

As the main material of the furnishing elements was chosen spruce bio-board with a surface treated with ecological wax coatings in black and transparent design. On a prominent part of the walls, large panels of spruce biobosk with a surface transparent coating were added, and the same material with a black coating was used on the furniture elements to highlight the wood veneer. The wood furnishings were complemented by the fabric of the upholstered furniture elements.

All furniture furnishing elements were designed in an atypical design and minimalist style, respecting the greatest possible functionality without the use of decorative elements that would refer to the folk culture of the surrounding area. The implementation included authorial supervision of all the professions involved during the entire period of reconstruction.
